Rip van washington or legend of sleepy irving play kit
This Dramaterials™ Elementary School Play Kit presents facts in a play about the life of noted author, Washington Irving, and his literature. In 1835, Irving purchased land on the banks of the Hudson River and built "Sunnyside," his New York home. Act 1 of the play allows students to portray real authors and characters from 1840 as they visit with Mr. Irving for an evening at his home. In Act II, the play is a present-day class field trip to that historic home where some of the students awaken an old man fast asleep by a tree. Is it really Mr. Irving? Performance runs about 50 minutes starring 17, plus or minus, of your 4th or 5th Graders. Protective "Director's" 3-ring case binder holds 16-page script, Staging, Props and Costuming Notes from the playwright, January M. Akselrad, and a Theater Unit Checklist. A Cast List is included with blanks for your students' names.
